The Three Main Brain States
The Center for Emotional Education provides resources and information designed to help develop awareness of emotions, foster relationships, and maintain self-respect in order to achieve better mental health. Three main brain states are provided and explained: Survival, Emotional and Executive brains. Through the Center’s resources, parents can learn to recognize the brain state of their children and respond appropriately, create a shared language around emotions and provide a safe space for emotional processing. Additionally, the Center provides a “cheat sheet” containing descriptions of different brain states and tips on how to manage them.
