Marlee Liss
Dr. Stacy hosted a session at the Mindful World Parenting Summit featuring Marley Liss, a women’s embodiment coach, author, and creator of the Sacred Sensual Wholeness Academy. Marley shared her journey of healing through restorative justice after surviving sexual violence in 2016. Initially navigating the punitive legal system, she found it retraumatizing and dehumanizing. Over time, Marley advocated for restorative justice, a process focused on repair and healing rather than punishment. This approach included therapy for her assailant and a mediated restorative justice circle, which profoundly transformed both her and her assailant.
Marley emphasized the importance of community involvement, accountability, and systemic change in justice practices. She also highlighted the broader cultural issues contributing to such violence, including patriarchal norms. Marley encouraged applying restorative principles in family dynamics to promote healing and understanding. She concluded by inviting people to explore her organization, Rehumanize, and her personal work on sensual reclamation, offering resources and ways to connect with her advocacy efforts.
